JURY OF THE YOUNG

Théâtre de la Ville and the dance department of the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Paris (CRRP) have, over several years, developed a partnership to enable students from the performance courses to meet with artists. During the 2020 edition Danse élargie autrement, students of CPES (the preparatory class for higher education) assembled for a day at Théâtre de la Ville to study all the projects. They chose Nicolas Barry, who then adapted his piece Pas de danse for a group of 17 students. This version, rehearsed at the CRRP and Théâtre de la Ville, was presented on 11 September 2021 at Théâtre des Abbesses, and was very successful. As a continuation of that beautiful experience, 13 students of CPES formed the Jury Jeunes – the jury of the young – at this seventh edition of Danse élargie, seizing the opportunity to hone their critical thinking and their ability to discuss, and debate over, works of art.

After the competition, they awarded their prize to Ioanna Paraskevopoulou with whom they would like to work, and they will present an adaptation of her piece Coconut Effect as part of Danse élargie – Suite at Théâtre des Abbesses in September 2023.
