fox trott

Nina Chalot and Romain Delamart (France)

With Fox Trott, they wish to dance with free-to-use electric scooters. To dance for Théâtre de la Ville, in the heart of Paris. To dance as a group of ten, at ten km/ hour for ten minutes, the average time of a ride. To dance together as though one were along. To dance constrained. To dance without moving. To allude to the invisible ballet of "juicers" harvesting and recharging these objects that are incessantly abandoned: those that are piled up, moved and replaced. Those that work. Those that the system drives on.

Born in 1992, Nina Chalot trained in dance and in ceramics, then took a degree in industrial design. She met Robert Wilson, collaborated with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and with Ramy Fischler, set designer alongside theatre director Cyril Teste. In 2018, she received a grant towards individual new work from DRAC Île-de-France and was finalist at the Agora scholarship of design. Since then, she has been developing research at the frontiers of design, performance, architecture and sociology. She is currently a resident at Centre International d’Art et du paysage de Vassivière in Limousin, as part of the Studio d’architecture FORALL.

Romain Delamart was born in 1986. He trained in fashion and in industrial design, and was assistant to the Bouroullec Brothers. Since 2017, he has been a designer for the fashion label Comme des Garçons. He was a 2018 finalist alongside Flora Langlois (in the fashion accessories section) at the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories held in Hyères. His research revolves around gender, the performative potential of everyday objects and the way in which they shape our identities. A keen theatre-goer, the stage is the place where his penchant for theatre direction, costumes and accessories and the enjoyment of performance convergent. He lives and works in Paris.
Together, they found the collective Les mouvements immobiles to examine the industrial object, the system that oversees it and the practices it generates. With lightness and humour.
