In Beste Cantate, song, dance and trance merge into a colourful and pagan parade, an unbridled and decadent medley that slowly succumbs to a melancholic decay. With the invocation of this subversive carnival, Juliette Chevalier unveils contradictory and murky urges.
Juliette Chevalier started out as a ballet dancer. After a diploma in visual expression at the École d’art de Tourcoing, she obtained the “Danse et pratiques chorégraphiques” certificate awarded by Charleroi danse, La Cambre and INSAS. In 2021, she created her first piece, Beste Cantate, before founding her Franco-Belgian company. Her artistic practice combines video, installation, the body on stage, scenography and the construction of objects on the body.
