La Danse Macabre

Pauline Bayard
MINUIT

On the walls of the Abbey of la Chaise-Dieu, an incomplete fresco portrays a dance of death, a “danse macabre”. It is transmuted on stage with seven performers, who could be the seven deadly sins or seven minutes — the duration of the symphony of Camille Saint-Saëns. This human chain leads us into a jubilant, dark and frantic nocturnal tour, in a desperate attempt to thwart death with a “life drive”.
