Marion Zurbach
Unplush

Marion Zurbach has reinvented two Renaissance dance pieces from the very first manual of choreographic composition: L’Orchésographie by Thoinot Arbeau (1589). How does one transform a Pavane or a Gaillard today? Halfway between a documentary restoration and a rewrite, this performance leads us into a ballroom where voice, flutes and tambourin will be confronted with electronic sounds and contemporary transformations in bodies.

After working as a dancer at Ballet national de Marseille and Tanz Compagnie Konzert Theater Bern, Marion Zurbach graduated with a Master's degree in theater and performance from the Bern University of the Arts, then founded her company in 2015. The Unplush company was awarded the June Johnson Dance Price in 2019 (Swiss Dance Awards). In 2023, she began work on the performance Howl, co-produced by the Ballet national de Marseille. She is also choreographer for the Cologne Opera, the Tanz Ensemble Luzerner Theater and Les Subsistances in Lyon.
