Soirée d'études

Cassiel gaube (Belgium)

Inspired by certain principles of American Postmodern Dance and by the work of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker (“My walking is my dancing”), Cassiel Gaube embarks on an exploration of walking and running with this trio, through a dialogue between contemporary dance and House. How can a simple walk be enriched by choreographic inputs from these two techniques? Does a strict separation between highbrow and popular dancers have any sense? To respond to these questions, the young choreographer creates a piece open to everyone, without compromising the requirements of composition.

Born in 1994, Cassiel Gaube is a dancer and choreographer who graduated from P.A.R.T.S in 2016. Since leaving school, he has been interested in House Dance as well as Street & Clubbing dances, as much from a technical perspective as a sociological one, between Paris and New York. In 2019, he created the solo Farmer Train Swirl – Étude, a kinesthetic exploration and one subjective to the field of House Dance. He contributed to the development of choreography in West Side Story, under the leadership of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and the direction of Ivo Van Hove. He is now associate artist at Ménagerie de Verre in Paris and is supported by the production company Hiros.
